Some picketing (and housekeeping reminders), solidarity pickets, EAP and more

Today’s crucial reminder from Peter:
Please, please, please remember to fill in and submit your weekly job records as soon as you’ve completed your 20 hours. (The folks at the union office really need these records.)

Other updates:
We love our Knitting for Solidarity, and now there’s more! This Friday some utterly charming sock monkeys will also be up for sale or auction at Central, with the funds raised (as always) going to the Hardship Fund.

We love our puppet shows too, and our own Picketing Puppet Productions’ excellent Click, Clack, Strike! will be back on the road next week, coming to Kitsilano Tuesday and Joe Fortes Wednesday (both at 11 am).

EAP counsellors will also be coming to future crew talks to tell us more about the services they offer to all of us, regardless of whether we’re on strike or at work. We’re still working on the times, dates, and locations–keep checking here! But don’t feel that you have to wait to talk with a counsellor–EAP is always available at 604 665-2150.

We can also expect to see more solidarity picketers soon: the Vancouver and District Labour Council has put out the call to other union members to come join us on the line. Thank you and welcome to these brothers and sisters. We are always happy to see you! The support means a lot to us.

More on picketing:
It’s still important to maintain coverage at Britannia from 8-4 so that the doors to the library remain closed. (At the same time space is limited, so if you’re planning to go, please sign up in advance.)

Central still needs more people in the evenings (4-8). We are asking everyone who possibly can to picket at least one night a week. I hear that there will be movie nights! More on this (and on this Friday’s event at the WISE Hall) as I get the details.

Thanks, everyone! See you out there tomorrow,

Janis
