and more

Pennies from Heaven had everybody rolling in the aisles (ha-ha. Sorry.) and has already netted tens of dollars for the benefit of the hardship committee.  It will continue for the rest of this week, so if you have bags of pennies lying around, bring them down to the picket line for rolling.

In light of Raise-a-Reader Day on Wednesday, CUPE 391 will be presenting some sort of complementary activity – possibly a read-in or similar event – at Central in support of literacy.

Also on Wednesday, members are invited to take part in a rally in solidarity with striking childcare workers from Simon Fraser University.  The rally, organized by SFU parents,  happens 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the tennis courts outside the SFU Childcare Society. The 67 childcare workers have been on strike since Sept. 17, and have not met with management since the strike started. Meet at Central tomorrow morning, or go directly to the tennis courts at SFU.  Rally time = picket time.  For more information, phone Central registration desk.
