General Meeting – New Date – January 31, 2013

The General meeting was booked for Thursday 24th.  The agenda includes the constitutional changes that will make elections more democratic.  We need 90 days grace period for these constitutional changes to be put into effect.  This is why it is important to schedule this meeting as soon as possible as we want any new constitutional changes active in time for the elections and the Annual General Meeting.

Reason for changing the date:  the Bargaining Committee is bargaining both January 24th and the 25th.  We may be nearing the end of bargaining and might have to bargain late on January 24th.  If we don not conclude bargaining on those dates, it is still important to reserve those dates in their entirety for bargaining.

We have booked the Morris J. Wosk Board Room for 6 pm, Thursday January 31, 2013.  Please encourage your co-workers to attend as the outcome of changing the process of how we elect our Executive and Trustees will ensure a more equitable process.  Everyone in our union should have access to placing their vote.  This is a vital right to members of a union.  Please help make this possible.

Food and beverages will be provided.  Childcare receipts honoured and door prizes!

Watch this space for the amendments to the constitution.  We will, of course, bring these “notices of motion” to the January 31st meeting again to reacquaint members of the changes.

in solidarity
