CUPE 391 Ratifies Memoradum of Settlement

On March 3, at Central Library, Alice McKay Room, 182 members of the CUPE 391 Vancouver, Gibsons, and Sechelt Public Library Workers met to listen to and ratify the Memorandum of Settlement.  (Gibsons and Sechelt will be in contract negotiations at a later date).  Members voted 92.3% in favour of the contract.  The Library Board will be meeting March 5, 2013, to vote on the Memorandum of Settlement.  We will notify you as soon as we are aware of the decision of the Board.  Thank you, CUPE 391, for your support this Sunday evening and your ongoing support before and during negotiations.

And thank you, CUPE 391 Bargaining Committee: Chair: Co-Laura Safarian, Gerard Batty, Gary Jarvis, Aliza Nevarie, Brian Peaslee and Heather Inglis, CUPE National representative and bargaining spokesperson for the Union.  We were fortunate to have former CUPE 391 member and VPL supervisor, Heather Inglis, as she knew our issues so well and was able to convey them to the employer.  We had a thoughtful and team-like approach which served us well when making the difficult decisions.  Happy trails to our friend and colleague, Brian P. whose experience showed to our advantage,  Make sure you return.

in solidarity
