WORD Vancouver

Hello everybody,

WORD Vancouver formerly known as WORD On The Street, is Western Canada’s largest celebration of literacy and reading. Held on the last weekend of September at Library Square in beautiful downtown Vancouver. The festival promotes books and authors with free exhibits, performances, and hands-on activities for a wide range of ages and interests.

The CUPE 391 trailer and tables will be located at the corner of Robson and Homer.
We will have 4 presenting authors this Sunday Sept 29th:

At 11:15 am Henry Doyle and Scot Keefer are contributors to “V6A : Writing From Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside” an anthology of prose, poetry and essays describing the conditions and opportunities for self-determination in the downtown eastside.

At 12:30 pm Geoff Berner musician and author of “Festival Man,” a novel on the adventures of a music manager at a music festival and the highs and lows of his entertainment lifestyle.

At 1:30 pm Stephen Collis is the author of “To The Barricades” a review of past and contemporary revolts from the 19th to 21st centuries that dispels apathy to difficult circumstances and advocates a renewed call for action to change the status quo. He is also the author of “Red Album,” a fictional account of a South American revolution.

CUPE 391 is also adopting 4 authors. The Adopt-An-Author program was created as a way to fund raise for WORD Vancouver and allows supporters to make meaningful connections to the writing community.
