Scaling back onsite staff at VPL

Dear Members,

Once again, significant developments have occurred today and it is very important that you check your email for a message from the Chief Librarian.
If you are unclear about whether you are meant to report to work, please contact your supervisor or a manager.

I know you have many questions about what this is going to mean for you and your families.
We don’t yet know what the plan going forward will look like – there are meetings scheduled for this evening and union leaders will be working all weekend to address your concerns.
391 will be putting together a page of practical resources for you to access – please stay tuned for an update from the Communications Committee on that.

There is a lot of information out there about best practices during this time.
Please follow the guidelines from the health authorities.

You don’t need me to repeat things you’ve heard so many times already… but I’m going to do it anyway, even if it’s just for myself:
Be kind. Be patient. Be thoughtful.
To others and yourself.

Reach out if you need to connect with someone.
Anxiety can build when you self isolate and it is important that you rely on your support system.
Colleagues, union family, are part of that system and it is vital we are checking in with each other during this time.

As always, we will be updating you as soon we have information to share.

Yours in solidarity,
Kari
