Question: Pension contributions. Can members buy back the strike period amounts?
Answer: No, this is not possible. Rules around our pension plan are determined by legislation. The Union has no jurisdiction over this matter.
Question: Will we be able to take our vacation time/save our vacation time, once we return to work? Will the employer make us take it as a cash payout?
Answer: This will be discussed with the employer in our "back to work agreement, after the contract has been settled.
Question: Will the collective agreement begin as of January 1s,t 2007?
Answer: The wage increase agreed to for 2007 should be retroactive to January 1/07.
Question: What steps have been taken to ensure that only students and the and not the public will be allowed to used Strathcona and Britannia school libraries?
Answer: The Labour Relations Board has ruled the libraries will be made available for teachers and students only, and remain closed to the public. We are abiding by the ruling, as we are legally obliged to do so, and expect the libraries will remain closed to the general public.
