An LA2 will now be embedded with a shelving crew equipped with a cell phone.
The cell phone is not to be used for assisting patrons with reference questions but rather to be used to communicate the replacement of paper for photocopiers, basic troubleshooting of equipment, compact shelf requests, and holds requests previously done by dedicated LA2s assigned to each floor. Now LA2s are coordinated out of L2 for the whole building and the cell phone is the easiest means to reach an LA2 to do the kind of duties they were always doing before.
LA2s will only be responsible for the most rudimentary directional questions posed to them by the Public.
Such questions and answers to them are being devised by a working group of peers.
