Word up!
Another great day of action! Apparently yesterday, a tourist couple from Holland put on signs and joined the lines! A huge thanks to them. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any contact information for them, so we hope they read the blog.
Tomorrow, in true bookworm style, there is going to be a “Read in Solidarity” event from 2:00 pm until 2:30 pm. at Library Square. Each individual should bring a copy of their favorite book and then sit down and do some hard reading. Invite your friends and family; the more the merrier!
Stating Monday, our picket action will be branching out (no pun intended) to the following locations: Joe Fortes, Britannia, and Kerrisdale. We will of course also be continuing our strong presence at Central. Shift details will be forthcoming in the Job Action Updates and the blog.
Don’t forget to have your own little phone trees with co-workers to make sure everyone is up to date. Not everyone has access to the internet. We try to hand out as much hard copy information as we can.
There is still confusion about this last week’s strike action and how that will work with strike pay. This last week will be pro-rated as it wasn’t a full week. If you have not done a full 20 hours of picket duty, the time you have done will still count. Starting tomorrow, the week begins anew. A minimum of 20 hours during the next seven days will be the requirement.
Please remember that a media blackout is now in effect. Members on the picket lines should not be speaking to anyone from the media.

Picket Location for Sunday, July 29, 2007
CUPE 391 will have pickets up at Central Library on Sunday from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM. Join the line from 12:00 – 4:00, or from 1:00 – 5:00.
Picket Captains, identifiable by their pink and white CUPE pins, will be at the four stations during the day. These locations are: the South Plaza, North Plaza, Hamilton Street, and the registration table.
Picket Locations for Monday and Tuesday
CUPE 391 will have pickets up at Kerrisdale, Joe Fortes, and Britannia Branches from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We will also have pickets up at Central from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
