From Beth Davies:
“Bike strike pickets ride this week from Monday to Thursday.
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday are 9am to 1pm shifts. Meet at Britannia at 9am, ride at 10am.
On Wednesday 12th, join us for another epic adventure from 9am to 5pm. This time, we’re inviting CUPE 15 and CUPE 1004 members too, and visiting all sorts of city facilities. Here’s the plan:
Meet at Britannia at 9am to decorate bikes. Because our signs are looking a bit bedraggled (apart from Dana’s wonderful lilac capes & banner), we’re going to spend the first hour decorating our bikes. We’ll have some poles, tape & zap straps, but it would be great if folks could bring some cardboard, pens, streamers, etc. Leave for Central, then City Hall, Kitsilano, and Kerrisdale for an early-ish lunch. Suitably fuelled, we’ll visit Van Dusen gardens, Queen Elizabeth Park, Riley Park community centre (and farmers’ market to get signatures for our petition), down to Kent Avenue and the Transfer Station & Works Yard, on to Fraserview, Kensington and ending up at the Cedar Cottage pub at 4.30pm (oooh, how did that happen again?).
Wednesday will be ‘epic adventure day’ from now on. Watch out for the Wednesday 19th ride to all of Vancouver’s community centres.”
The Bike Strike schedule has now been added to the regular Picket Schedule.
