On Tuesday 13th December, the team met at Local 391’s office on W10th, prior to two more full days of bargaining with the employer’s bargaining team at the Maritime Labour Centre in East Vancouver, Wednesday and Thursday. We continue to make progress.
Thursday’s bargaining meeting was the last day in which Laurin Shadforth participated as one of the team. Laurin retires in the new year. Thank you Laurin for your dedication and hard work. All of the bargaining team and all members of the Local are appreciative of your contribution in the round of bargaining and everything you have done for the union over the years.
Anne Dodington is our new bargaining team member and will take over from Laurin in the new year. Anne has a wealth of union experience and extensive knowledge of the collective agreement thanks to her deep involvement in classification duties. Welcome Anne!
The bargaining team will meet again in the new year before we continue bargaining in February. We have three dates set for bargaining with the employer later that month and two more dates in March.
All that is left to say is to wish everyone the best of the season, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and (a happy) Kwanzaa and Happy New Year! Lots of happy!
