Job Action Updates + VESP

Important:  Anyone wanting to withdraw from VESP should please note that today is the last day to submit your completed withdrawal form if you want to receive payment before the 15th of next month.  Forms are available at the picket registration desk or through your picket captain. Completed forms must be delivered to the registration desk at Central anytime before 4pm, or you may hand them to your picket captains at Britannia, Kerrisdale and Joe Fortes. They will be delivered to HR on your behalf.

Our brilliant job action mastermind Peter DeGroot has drafted another Job Action Update (#5). Here are the highlights.  A printable version is available through our bargaining resources page.

Job Action Update #5

During the labour dispute, CUPE 391 will be issuing Job Action Updates to the membership.  These updates will deal with the logistics of job action including picketing duties and strike pay.  Updates on the bargaining process will be found on our union homepage under the bargaining blog.

Picket Requirements

391 members are asked to picket for 20 hours per week between Sunday and Saturday. A picket shift is 4 hours. Members can do up to two shifts per day. Nuances of your situation (such as vacation, mobility) should be included on your initial registration form.

Picket Locations for Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Pickets will be up at every branch (except Riley Park and Carnegie) from 9 am to 1 pm. Pickets will be up at Central between 8 am and 8 pm.

Travel Between Pickets

Travel time between locations is included for those doing picket duty at multiple sites on the same day.

Knitting in Solidarity

At Central, some 391 members are knitting hats for people in need. Please bring yarn and needles either to donate or participate.

Hardship Committee

CUPE 391 is establishing a hardship committee to look at ways to assist our members. Leave your name and phone number at the registration table if you would like to be on this committee.

E-mail

Do not use your VPL email account during the strike.
