Plenty o’ Picketing options

Ready for some variety?  Pickets are needed for a non-symbolic picket line atDunbar branch on Thursday from 7:30am-4pm.  For more information, phone Kerrisdale.

Thursday morning is also the weekly Job Action Meeting at the Union Office, 545 West 10th Avenue, from 9-11am.  Picket captains, committee reps and any other interested members are invited to attend. Meeting time is considered picket time.

Picket and get fed on Friday at Central. The ‘dogs will be on the barbies beginning at 11am, as always.

Also on Friday, Britannia could use a few more folks to top up the numbers on the line. Chili might be served, if we get organized by then, and the ‘floor show’ will be a dress rehearsal of the puppet show.

After 66 – or is it 67? – days, it’s amazing that we can keep our spirits high and our resolve as strong, if not stronger, than ever. We can thank the support of the public, who surprise us daily with donuts, honks and cheers, and even money. One man dropped a $50 donation at Central, saying “coffee’s on me today.”  We can thank our tireless bargaining committee, who remain steadfast through every twist and turn of this process. We can thank our brothers and sisters in CUPE 15 and 1004, who share picket sites, emotional ups and downs, and coffee & pastries with us. And we can thank each another, for sustaining ourselves with upbeat conversation, neck massages, incredible treats like the Mexican feast at Kits this week, and of course,  innumerable cute dogs.
