The Atomic Duo (www.theatomicduo.com) was one of the highlights of the Vancouver Folk Festival last weekend. Silas Lowe and Mark Rubin hail from Austin Texas. Their songs present a bold, witty and clear-eyed commentary, inspired by foreclosure evictions, harsh immigration laws, and the failed assumptions of trickle-down economics.
They’ve generously offered to perform a brief set at the beginning of our VDLC meeting Tues, July 17 starting just after 7:30 pm at the Maritime Labour Centre – 1880 Triumph St. at Victoria in Vancouver. Free and open to all, but you might want to buy a CD.
The regular business meeting will follow, and is also open to guests.
Also note that:
- The pizza educational from 6 – 7 pm is on Effective Meetings, with Joey Hartman.
- The VDLC Young Workers’ Committee will be selling crafts and baked treats prior to the meeting 6:45 – 7:30 pm, so come early and bring some cash for purchases.
