We realize that over the past few days there have been a couple of stories in the media that contain numerous statements that we strongly disagree with. Understandably, we are all concerned about the content of these articles and we appreciate how incredibly upsetting this is to our members.
We also appreciate that you would like us to strongly and publicly counter these statements. However, in an effort to best serve the membership and to try to keep moving things forward, the Bargaining Committee will not be countering statements or debating our position in the media at this time. We feel that it is more important to remain focused on getting a settlement.
So, in an effort to allow both parties an opportunity to keep focused on discussing a possible resolution, we will be asking the Employer to agree to a media blackout.
